Butterflies, Bubbles, and Bikes - Baby, It's Spring!

This week, April 22 - 26, is our last full week of April and packed full of fun!

Monday is EARTH DAY! Abby will read the Curious Garden and the children will learn a butterfly song. Did you know we have our caterpillars? Soon, we will be enjoying and then releasing our own sweet butterflies, all while learning about their fascination life cycle. There will be a special Earth Day art activity set for this day as well. 





WEDNESDAY IS BIKE DAY

Important information about Bike Day: Each child should have a bike, scooter, and helmet to participate in our biking portion of bike day. There will be a track drawn in the parking lot by our lovely volunteer parents, and well as a very exciting ramp to test those dare devils. A bike/scooter washing station, complete with sponges and rags, will be set up, as well as a place to enjoy bubbles. The extended forecast shows nothing but blue skies and 60 degree temperature. Perfect!




On Friday, we will have some spring cleaning activities. Children can scrub those little cars, animals, and playdough tools with lots of soap and toothbrushes. We will make some enviromentally friendly cleaning spray and use it to make our room spelling fresh and clean!

Lesson Plans - March 6 - 8

As we March forth this week (sorry) and come together to finish the year strong, we are changing and simplifing a few things. Our lesson plans will still be delivered by blog, but we've switched platforms.  This week we will continue extending our health center, and learning more about what health professionals do to keep us in tip-top shape. Books we will be reading include,  Does an Owl Wear Eye Glasses ,  Robin's New Glasses , and  Douglas, You Need Glasses!  We will learn one way sightless people read by examining a braille board.  Art activities this week include process art, blindfold painting, watercolors, and playdough. With enough adults, we will make spaghetti sauce and carrot muffins at the cooking station. We will add eye patches, eye occluders, eye glasses, and an eye chart to our health center. Our worms and garden are probably in need of some TLC after a week off of school. We can all use some TLC after this week off of school.

Lesson Plans: March 11 - 15

We've been learning about taking care of our bodies for the past several weeks - going to the doctor for annual immunizations, how to keep our teeth healthy through dental check-ups, daily brushing and flossing - as well as learning about our eye and ear health. We've added some healthy foods to try to give our body parts what they need - crunchy celery and cream cheese for our teeth, avocado bread for our eyes, spinach for good general popeye-ness.  This week we will continue to learn about nutrition and good food to eat. Some of the books we will have in our library to read at story time include  Alex Eats a Rainbow and Eating the Alphabet. Taste testing some unusual fruits and vegetables and making good things to eat are on our plate (ha!) this week, and we can add a little math by graphing personal preferences. Celebration Week - Our Last Full Week of School

  Our last full week of school will be May 13 - 17, with a short Graduation Week to follow. We can't believe the year has gone so quickly! We decided to make our final week of school full of celebratory days. Here is the calendar of events for this week: MONDAY - PJ and Waffle Day - Please wear PJs to school and bring a stuffie if you wish! It will be a cozy day. WEDNESDAY - Smoothie Day - Please bring in your favorite fruit to add to your green smoothie! It is also Ariela's birthday today, so we will be circling the sun for this little sweetie. FRIDAY - Under the Sea Day - We will be whipping up a special treat along with other surprises! We will be celebrating Emmett's birthday today - the big 0-5!
